Once registered, letting a Participant add more info to their Participant record
August 09, 2010, 05:52:35 pm
Searching for this proved futile because of the vague terms I am looking for - but am sure I have seen something similar in past.

Scenario.

Student signs up for a training event. Once accepted they are asked to fill in lots more info. Since that info relates to that 'event' but it makes sense to do this as Participant fields for that 'event type' since they may attend a subsequent identical event and the info they then provide may be different. And may need comparing to the previous time they attended.

So, by what process can we expose the Profile such that when a person fills it in, it adds the info the specific event in question? Or do I think of another way around this?

come up a few times, dont think there has been a solution

i suspect the easiest option might be to extend a specific profile via hooks and allow embedding of a participant profile in this profile (or something like that)

many thanks lobo - will look down that route and report back - though not in short term.

SO since i found my way back to this I will add this here then blog about it later.

Scenario: Course is offered for Teens, and either parent or teen can register the teen.

Once approved, both the Teen and the Parent need to add info. Some of it is Contact info, some is Relationships, some is 'what do i want to get from this course' and some is 'what i want our family to get from course' for example.

The Parent should not be able to access the Students input and vv.

In the end I have gone with using Webform to create the multi-page form, requiring the person to enter the Participant ID (which they will be sent when their registration is accepted).

At this point we then download table, and import via Import Participant, and Import Contact to get the data in to the relevant places. There will also be a bit of manual shenanigans probably.

Once we are happy with this, and if the budget stretches, we will also look at pushing this data in via the Migrate module that Eileen has fallen in love with.
