Send immediatley is not working
August 12, 2010, 03:40:28 am
I would have thought send immediately would have by passed the cron job sending time.
On 3.1.5 send immediately simply doesnt do what it says.

Have checked the bug fix for 3.2 and couldnt see it there

Any one else having this issue?

I am pretty sure 'send immediately' means 'send the next time the cron fires'

if you want to get it fired out directly you can add /queue&reset=1 to the url when you get to the 'sent and scheduled' page which does trigger it immediately - though not sure if doing that will also trigger the bounce management

though the above is based on drupal behaviour but joomla may be the same

Ha!
thats not what send immediately means to me or my clients! ;D

Good to know - I sometimes add a custom menu link to force send so probably revert to this.

any suggestions for different wording for "Send Immediately" to make it more clear that the mail will be sent on the next cron run? (keeping in mind that some / many users have not idea what "cron job" is or means)

Sure
'Send on next autorun'
'Send with next cron job'
'Send automatically with next autorun'
'Send with next system send'
:)
