Using Smart Groups in Search Builder
August 12, 2010, 11:24:08 am
It seems that using "!=" in a search builder when acting on a smart group yields the same result as "=".  I've verified this in the Drupal demo site. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?

I created a smart group in the demo site which has 38 members.  (Group =6) If I go to search builder and choose Individuals/Groups/=/6   38 contacts are returned. If I choose  Individuals/Groups/!=/6   the same 38 records are returned.

This doen't appear to be the case with other options only groups (I only tried it with smart groups)

--- Another issue on the drupal demo site, I can;t seem to edit search criteria, after clicking on edit criteria, there is a light gray rectangle over the area where the search builder should be.  I'm using IE8.

Thanks

it is missing feature (or a bug in other words). != with regard to groups is a lot more expensive and difficult to calculate.

Also the core team does not have resurces to devote to search builder. Would be great if you can submit patches to fix the below issues, specifically the first issue.

Does the search criteria issue happen on firefox also?

The edit search issue criteria does not happen in Chrome or Firefox or Safari, but it does occur in IE8. I'll log it as a bug.

An update -- Kurund pointed out that after building a smart group(s) through Search builder.  I can use the custom search include/exclude tags and groups.  This worked perfectly.  Thanks
