CiviMail - select by zipcode?

Is there a way to select email mailings based on criteria?

Say for example, with the sample data, if we wanted to send an email to all newsletter subscribers in a certain zip code - how would we do this?

If the newsletter subscribers are a separate group, you can try creating a smart group that contains members of that group who also have the requested zip code and send the mailing to that smart group only.

Thank you - Smart Groups look wonderful.  I watched the tutorial here:

Looks like just what I need - but shouldn't the smart group show up in the list of groups in CiviMail after I checked the box in Manage Groups / Group Settings / Colorado Zip codes group ?  Must be missing something.

Did you turn your smart group into a Mailing List (Manage Groups → Settings link for the group in question)? I created a smart group, checked the Mailing List checkbox in its settings and it shows up when I try to Send Mailing.

If this is what you did and the group doesn’t show there, can you let me know which exact version of CiviCRM you’re running (down to the five-digit revision number)? (It might be something we fixed after the first release.)
