Just installed yet errors
August 14, 2010, 10:23:30 pm
Hi there,  have searched the forums here but could not find an answer to my error problems.  This is so frustrating as I just downloaded CiviCRM and straight away these errors come up on my new Drupal page.

warning: include_once(sites/default/civicrm.settings.php) [function.include-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in C:\xampp\htdocs\drupal\sites\all\modules\civicrm\drupal\civicrm.module on line 247.

warning: include_once() [function.include]: Failed opening 'sites/default/civicrm.settings.php' for inclusion (include_path='.;C:\xampp\php\PEAR') in C:\xampp\htdocs\drupal\sites\all\modules\civicrm\drupal\civicrm.module on line 247

Oops! - The CiviCRM settings file (civicrm.settings.php) was not found in the expected location (sites/default/civicrm.settings.php).

My problem is no matter where I look I cannot find a civicrm.settings.php file in the civicm dir.

If anyone can help it would be appreciated as I am not experienced at this at all.

Re: Just installed yet errors - have spent several days and can't get an install
August 22, 2010, 08:01:45 pm
I have exactly the same installation problem - and of course got the "already installed" message when I tried to rerun the script
.
And - it says"To start over, you must delete or rename the existing CiviCRM settings file - civicrm.settings.php - from " . implode(CIVICRM_DIRECTORY_SEPARATOR, array('[your Drupal root directory]', 'sites', $siteDir)) . "   BUT - I never got a civicrm.settings.php generated in the initial attempt and there is nothing to to delete !!  The script has never run correctly even though I filled in the database settings and had the message that my database settings looked ok.

I get exactly the same errors for civiCRM 3.1.6 and 3.2.1

I am running on a Windows 7 PC

I have no idea what to try next - I have totally removed all of the civiCRM files several times, cleared cache, cleaned my registry - I cannot get the script to run and create the right civicrm.settings.php plus run to the end to create the database !!

Please don't tell me I simply didn't finish the install - I read all the instructions and nothing helps.

HELP - I am a new user - but have many years in the applications development world. I am stumped with no way to debug what is happening.

"

When I click on the red bar's link to problems below it goes straight to the language selection. I have no selection there but just the $language parameter. The error link goes directly to the below details:
_____________________________________________________________________________________________________
Other Settings

Language of basic data: $language
Load sample data: checked

Check this box to pre-populate CiviCRM with sample English contact records, online contribution pages, profile forms, etc. These examples can help you learn about CiviCRM features.

CiviCRM Database Details
showTable("MySQL CiviCRM Configuration"); ?> Drupal Database Details"; $dbReq->showTable("MySQL Drupal Configuration"); }?>
Requirements
showTable(); ?>
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Other facts - even though I have shared the wamp folder where all my drupal and civiCRM folders exist, I see I have "protected" on update.php and configuration file, but those should not affect the civiCRM install ?

can u do a "find" from your file system htdocs drupal directory and see if there is a civicrm.settings.php anywhere in the directory

i suspect it might have created one in the wrong place?

I looked everywhere and cannot find the file. I use google desktop and all files are indexed there - it finds references where Java files are looking for such a file, but no actual file.  It is as if the install script simply does not run.  It also appears that the database is fine, but the script cannot display the drupal tables ?  I tried adding a civiCRM db to MySQL first, but had the same result. Even though drupal runs fine, the civiCRM install script seems unable to "do" anything - including the primary need to access the db.

sorry no idea. your best bet would be to go in and debug the install script (install/index.php)

please let us know what the issue was and why this happened, so we can fix core if needed

Hi Barbarae, Lobo, Xavier.

Yes it sounds like you might have the same problem I had Barbarea. I am using Windows  I just could not find the file at all no matter how hard I tried.  So I gave up  ;D and attacked from another angle.

1. Uninstalled CiviCRM and installed it again.  Followed instructions from Xavier's link, until I got to the Where Should I Store CiviCRM Data? section.
2. For some reason the PhpMyAdmin via Drupal was only allowing me to make 1 DB on my localhost.  I ended up having to purchase some web hosting space so I could create some multiple DB's.  I was going to have to do it anyway.
3. With the Drupal and CiviCRM separate DB's created and access information entered into the CiviCRM Installer screen it only left one red block at the bottom for allowing file to be write enabled.
4. What worked for me was accessing the DOS command prompt screen A) Start > Run > cmd  B) Navigate to /sites folder and type: attrib -r default /s /d

This link might help you as well Barbarea, its where I found the above code.

I now have CiviCRM installed, but have problems with the Dashboard not loading....save that for another thread  ::)

have any one solve this problem? i have the same problem "Oops! - The CiviCRM settings file (civicrm.settings.php) was not found in the expected location (sites/default/civicrm.settings.php)." when install civicrm in durpal.

the environment in my server is: Drupal 6.19, MySQL 5.1.41, PHP 5.3.2-1ubuntu4.5, Apache/2.2.14 (Ubuntu).

i have tried the civicrm 3.3, 3.2.4, 3.0.1, 2.2.9, but all got the above error after enable(i.e. install) civicrm.

the user and group for civicrm directory after tar -zxvf civicrm*.tar.gz file is www-data:www-data, while the user and group for the other files and directory under ../sites/ are qiubosu:qiubosu. i set the permission for the whole ../sites/ directory as 777.

the database for the drupal site is mysql, while the database for civicrm is the default civicrm(can tell from the civicrm default file ../civicrm/install/index.php).

if try to install civicrm by browse http://192.168.35.108/admin/build/modules/civicrm/install/index.php and press enter, it doesn't work, while go to the modules page (http://192.168.35.108/admin/build/modules).

why there is the above error "Oops! - The CiviCRM settings file (civicrm.settings.php) was not found in the expected location (sites/default/civicrm.settings.php)."? the server environment support the civicrm? the user and group setup for the files and folders under ../sites/ is ok for civicrm? drupal and civicrm use different databases is ok?

The file should be in /sites>all>default.  If you have more then one install of drupal you will have to copy the file and move it to /yoursitename/sites/all/default with out making changes.

The error message with the long string /linexxx  is occuring because plugin manager has confilicts with something else you have installed.  Remove the plugin manager and see if that solves the problem.  I had to do the same.  The plugin manager is a nice luxury, but not worth the head aches if you have to spend hours fixing.
