Multi-Site Shared Database Joomla?
August 16, 2010, 07:45:44 pm
I am working on a site for a college ministry.  We have a large database of alumni we would like to put into Civi and its own website.  We also have a large number of current students that we would like to use Civi for and its own website.

Both websites are hosted on the same webhost.  We are using joomla for both websites.

What is the best configuration?  Should we run two separate installations of CiviCRM? Or is there a way to share the database between the two?  Which would you recommend?

Our graduating senior will be moved into the alumni database after graduation.  We could do this manually if we had two installs or it might be easier to do if they were on the same database....

Any help would be greatly appreciated?

I would recommend separate CiviCRM install for each site. When needed just export data from student install and import to alumini install.

Ideally having single joomla site will be much easier..
