click through tracking - 404 error
August 17, 2010, 06:19:02 am
I recently upgrade tot 3.2.0

Click trough tracking in civimail now results in (page not found error)

the links look ok.
http://www.komimo.be/sites/all/modules/civicrm/extern/url.php?u=254&qid=3416

I found some reference to setting the right userpriviliges but i don't see any problems there..

Please check whether the link works if you’re logged-in as an admin (to rule out it’s an access control problem).

Also, if possible, check whether the civicrm_mailing_trackable_url table contains the right link.

I checked both questions.

the error stays wether i'm logged in or not
the table is ok, nothing wrong there; links from before the upgrade and after look normal

we just had a case reported where civimail links were getting to our site and hitting 'page not found'

the site had recently been upgraded but not quite sure about timing (to 3.2.0 then to 3.2.1)

we haven't managed to replicate yet - resending the same email had the links working fine - have yet to send back to original error reporter

just mentioning in case there is any similarity of situations - but i realise i ain't be particularly informative (yet)

So the links are generated the same, and they worked before the upgrade and don’t work now, right? I.e., neither previously nor currently sent links work in the current setup, while previously sent links worked in the previous setup?

I just noticed that i also have a problem on my cronjob for civimail

trying to execute it gives also an 404 error. Probably there is something wrong with the permissions or so. I checked everything (directories on 755 and files on 644) and i do not see the problem.

Any ideas where i can look next?

peterd: :) :)

BigP: Hm, it seems that either your web server can’t get into the relevant directories (but you did check the permissions), or there are rules preventing it from doing so – can you check whether you don’t have any rogue .htaccess files in the relevant directories (assuming Apache setup)?

Finally!

looking at my cron problem pointed me to this topic
http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php/topic,5967.0.html

the problem was that my /sites directory had 777 permissions instead of 755 that prevented the php files from executing.
Maybe a good idea to add this warning in the installation wiki.

Thanks, good to know. (These are not common permissions, as they allow anyone in the system to edit the files therein.)

It’s a wiki – it would be ideal if you edited it with the wording that makes the most sense to you. :)
