Export field selection improvements
August 17, 2010, 07:17:25 am
When exporting data and selecting your own fields, the process can be a bit cumbersome -- especially if your export needs to anticipate the same field across multiple contact types. For example, if my export potentially includes indivs/orgs/households and I want to export the address fields, I need to replicate them three times -- once for each contact type. When Civi builds the export file it (thankfully) merges those into a single "street address" or other such field. But the export mapping becomes three times as long as it needs to be.

I'd like to see those common fields merged into a single "contacts" type -- similar to how they're handled when building profiles. As a longer term wish list, I'd love to see the entire interface ajaxified -- where we can drag and drop fields from each data type into the mapping and dynamically reorder them.
