CiviCampaign should be generic for non-political use
August 20, 2010, 12:28:22 am
The CiviCampaign component looks great! (kudos to Kiran)

I think this component has many potential non-political uses, but as prototyped, the screens refer to the people being interviewed as "voters".

Could we please use a generic term that doesn't suggest a political use?

(Even better, the term could be made an attribute of the Campaign Type. So GOTV campaigns refer to "voters", fund-raising drives refer to "donors" or "potential donors", and event promotions refer to "attendees" or "invitees".)

Thanks,
Ken

ken:

1. our current focus and sponsorship is to get the voter flow working. At some later stage, we'll try to make it more generic

2. You might want to consider supporting this development by making a contribution here:

Where can I see a demo of the CiviCampaign option? I looked at the demo site but didn't see anything there.

@FrTommy,

See http://civicrm.org/blogs/kiran/campaign-core-civicrm-component for a description of the component. It will become part of core CiviCRM in v3.3.

To see a 'sandbox' version, visit http://campaign.dev.civicrm.org then log in, click on 'CiviCRM', 'Other', 'Campaign' and have a play.
