cron help
August 21, 2010, 12:41:09 pm
I'm new to CiviCRM (3.2.1) and I'm trying to setup CiviMail on a Joomla installation (1.5.20).  I've been following the book but run into a problem when I try to test the bounce email account I've established for the site.  Using the link provided, I enter my site's information in my browser...and I get a 404 error.  Any help in understanding what I'm doing wrong would be great.

Also when I set a site key in the settings files (admin and site files) I get a page error in the backend.  So, for now, I have the site key as the default 'null' value.  If I can either get help fixing my work with the site key error or the 404 error, I'd really appreciate it!

OK.  you guys are really helping!  :)

Eileen:
daggumit!  thank you...I used ' this time and everything seems ok now in the backend, with my new key.  :)

Lobo:
after your comment I noted that the link in the floss manual is provided as
http://example.org/sites/all/modules/civicrm/bin/EmailProcessor.php?name=username&pass=password&key=your_site_install_key

but in my installation of CiviCRM, I only find the EmailProcessor.php file in two places, 1) my tmp folder (which I assume is leftovers from my recent Civi-upgrade to 3.2.1), and 2) in the admin folder http://example.com/administrator/components/com_civicrm/civicrm/bin/EmailProcessor.php?name=username&pass=password&key=site_key

so I ran the test with the admin link (#2)...and it gave me this error..."Fatal error: Uncaught exception 'ezcMailTransportException' with message 'An error occured while sending or receiving mail. Failed to connect to the server:" followed by a bunch of other stuff.

I'm going to play around with my email settings (I guess?!) to see if I can get it to connect with the server...am I on the right track?

Yep - that URL is the Drupal URL so it won't work for Joomla.

Now you have the URL correct you need to have your mail account settings correct within Civi so that the server process can log onto your mail account successfully. Note that if you have more than one account it may successfully log onto the 'real' one but still return an error if it can't log onto the other.
