Problem installing CiviCRM in Joomla 1.5.20
August 22, 2010, 08:37:12 am
I'm trying to install CiviCRM 3.2.1 to Joomla 1.5.20, and get the following error message:

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare _pear_call_destructors() (previously declared in /home/lseeman/webapps/newstream/libraries/pear/PEAR.php:773) in /home/lseeman/webapps/newstream/administrator/components/com_civicrm/civicrm/packages/PEAR.php on line 811

The CiviCRM documentation mentions a PEAR problem on installation and suggests turning off open_basedir, but my web host tells me that they do not run this.

What's puzzling is that can install CiviCRM (3.1.3) to Joomla 1.5.17. The problem comes when attempting to install to 1.5.20.

Any suggestions will be appreciated!

can u try installing civicrm 3.2.1 on joomla 1.5.17 and see if that works

i'm hoping joomla 1.5.20 has not introduce the PEAR library in the default config. will make things a bit more difficult for us :(

I'll do that. I just checked and CiviCRM installs to Joomla 1.5.18 without a problem.

i just did a clean install of joomla 1.5.20 and civicrm v3.2.2 (from svn) and it worked fine

not sure why it gave u that error. r u using any other joomla components that potentially include PEAR.php?

That's odd -- the only other component installed is K2, and I'm not sure whether it includes PEAR.php. At least it's a relief to know that a clean install of both Joomla and CiviCRM works. I'll start from that end. Thanks much!

it's likely another extension that's causing the conflict -- not joomla
DocMan can create issues. not sure about K2, but it's definitely possible
