walklist and current employer report

there are two reports that ship with Civi that are disabled by default --
walklist and current employer reports.

just curious why they are shipped disabled. are they broken? not working quite right?
the walklist does not appear to be CiviEngage-specific. it basically generates a very simple constituent report. so although it's probably not the most useful report available, it does potentially have some utility for general use

I believe walklist is part of civicanvass drupal module, and needs the custom fields it defines. Not sure about Current Employer report.

Yeah  - walklist is part of civiengage - but what I'm super confused about is that there is a walklist.php file in Core, yet, when CiviEngage is enabled you can put a die(); smack in the middle of it without any ill effect (the civiengage version is called). Is the one shipped called if CiviEngage isn't enabled?

both ship disabled, can be enabled, and appear fully functional.
so it must have been constructed with civiengage in mind, but could be used in a standard core installation (though it's usefulness is limited, as it doesn't provide anything that the other constituent reports don't)

So the CiviEngage walklist is like a 'normal' report except the output when you click print is very different

I think it must be built such that it functions normally, but when civiengage is activated, it kicks in additional "features."
w/o civiengage, it looks like any other report when printed
