Event Records cannot be edited, v3.2.2
August 24, 2010, 03:59:50 pm
I just upgraded from 3.2.0 to 3.2.2 because I discovered it was not possible to edit existing event records. Now with 3.2.2, the issue has not abated.

The form itself appears, though there appears to be an extra page in the workflow that shouldn't be there. The extra page is just asking which of the event fieldsets I want to edit, despite having already selected the desired fieldset from the Manage Event page.

Once I arrive at the correct record edit fieldset, that page does not appear to be respecting the Drupal theme settings. The page is formatted (the data isn't all pressed against the left margin, and there is some bold text), but it's otherwise an all white background with black text.

All the above is odd and disconcerting, but the real show stopper is that the form will not allow you to save the revised record. The "Save," "Save and Done," and "Cancel" buttons are dead, as are the "clear" links following the date fields.

Is there a patch to fix this? Or is there a workaround?
I can create new records, but I cannot edit existing records.

this issue has not been reported and hence no patch exists

we just upgraded civicrm.org to 3.2.2 earlier today. Event update on existing events seem to work fine out there

if you get on irc, you can probably show one of us the site so we can take a quick look at it. no idea right now on what the issue might be

after a quick look, i suspect this is due to some javascript conflict with some other drupal module. Your best bet would be to:

1. make sure u have the latest stable version of all drupal modules. Check if this fixes the issue

2. if not, turn off all the other drupal modules

3. turn them on one at a time and see when the page breaks. that will narrow it down and give you and us a clue and potentially an idea on whats broken and how to fix it.

4. i suspect waiting for this issue to be resolved in a future version might not result it being fixed at all till u come back to it :)

It appears to be the Context module that has broken Civicrm.

When I disable Context, CiviEvent editing works; when I enable Context, CiviEvent editing is crippled.

SO is Context applying a particular theme to these form/pages?

No, it isn't configured to alter any of the CiviCRM pages.

I'm not sure what this means. Is there something else I should do to diagnose the problem or narrow the field? Do I submit an issue ticket or something?

u'll need to figure out what the conflict is between the Context module and CiviCRM and submit a patch.

Ah, well, that certainly would be nice if I could do that myself. Unfortunately, I'm not a programmer and wouldn't even know where to start.

I posted an issue in the Context module queue on Aug. 26th.
