Upgrade Error...
August 25, 2010, 12:00:32 am
I am trying to update from 3.2 to 3.2.2. I have followed the online directions. I uninstalled 3.2 and am now trying to install 3.2.2. I downloaded unzipped it, on my local machine, then used filezilla to upload it to the joomla "tmp" directory. However, even when I typ the exact address to (I have tried every variation I can think of), I get the error message "There was an error uploading this file to the server." I have checked my php information and the max upload is 10M.

I have now tried going back to the 3.2 version, however, I am still getting the same error. Any ideas on how I can get civicrm installed again?

I would recommend upload tarball on server and the unzip on server. Also you should try joomla-alt version..

yeah -- try the -alt version.
the standard version has a sub-package zip file. sounds like your host is having trouble with it.

also, as an FYI -- in most cases you can install right on top of the existing installation, without needing to uninstall first

Uploaded and unzipped it on the server and tried both the regular and alternate zipped files... both are giving me the error "There was an error uploading this file to the server."

I have gone back and tried the last several versions and nothing is working?

maybe a file permissioning issue on the folder where you uploaded these files?
did you upload to /tmp/ ?
if so, go to joomla admin > help > system info > directory permissions
and confirm they are writeable

Yes... I uploaded the zipped file to the Joomla tmp folder. I also check the file permissions in Joomla (as directed above) and everything is "writable" except for the "Log Directory ($log_path) /logs/" ...However, that should not affect the civicrm installation should it?

It is now working... I appreciate your willingness to help. I had to "Install from URL" using the address directly to the stored file on SourceForge.
