Searching
August 25, 2010, 09:17:26 am
Does anybody know if there is a module or a way to modify CIVCRM in order to do more accurate searches.  The reason I ask is, let's say you enter "Jon Allen" into the find contact search field, currently it will bring up every person with a similar name.  This isn't bad if you are unsure of a spelling, but when you are doing a quick look-up it can take lots of time.  Ideally it would be nice to search only by First Name only by Last Name and only by Email.

I would be willing to make the module myself, but I am relatively new to CIVCRM and this must be a frequent problem, so someone must have solved it before this.

u can do a more accurate search by searching for "allen, jon"

if u want a only by first/last/email, consider writing a custom search

or depending on your needs, maybe use the views integration?
