80% Bounce Rate?

So I just tried to send out my first newsletter after getting all my contacts put into the database and I got an 80% bounce rate on a mailing list of 800 students.... Any ideas?  I did the manual send.  I have not yet set up the cron job for it yet.  Would that be why?  I had 180 successful recieves?

I found an email that bounced . got them off hold. then sent an individual email from the dashboard and they received that? 

So confused any help would be hugely appreciated?

Check your mailserver’s logs; they will tell you why the emails bounced.

Also: what method do you use for sending (mail()/SMTP/sendmail)?

So this means that they did not receive the original mailing, but did receive the ‘send email to contact’ one, right?

I found the problem was with my host.  I am using sendmail.  They only allow 150 per hour... Got them to bump it up and got the email blasts to send out in intervals... Thanks so much for your help!
