Installation options with php 5.1.2
August 26, 2010, 02:13:47 pm
Hi there,

Unfortunately our version of php falls short of CiviCRM's current requirements of 5.2.x (we have 5.1.2).  We're trying get our host to upgrade php, but it's like pulling teeth!

Is installation with php 5.1.2 a possibility or are we just completely screwed here?

Any input is greatly appreciated - thanks!

you likely will be able to install it, but then will run into issues.
one of the things added in 5.2.x is a JSON constructor, which is used for a lot of xml based AJAX effects
so you'll find that many of those functions don't work right

I would wait until your host upgrades, or find a new host
