Online product fundraising

I am brand-new to CiviCRM and hoping to use it to setup a product fundraising platform (people buy stuff to support a local sports team). I was wondering if anyone has seen this done before with CiviCRM and or knows how. I am happy to buy a working setup or system of any kind, and am hungry for tips.

Sounds to me like you are just talking about creating contribution pages (possibly with targets & pretty widgets)

if you really want a 'shop' type feature then you might want to consider Ubercart (which has some integration with civicrm)

or if you want a 'mini shop' in civicrm, use Contribution Page and price sets and you can set up something like the attached images
