Can we rename the group type "mailing list" to be "email list"
I see a lot of people get confused, not realizing that this option impacts what's available to civimail, and somehow thinking they need to check that if they're going to use the group to export for a mailing.

Would CiviMail list be closer to the actual usage of this?

technically, yes. but i think we're trying to get away from the "civi-" prefix branding.
either way would work. it's just that "mailing" is too generic and has other conotations

I was thinking that it helps differentiate the fact that there are several 'email' options in CiviCRM - but that setting a Group up to be a Mailing List is only a requirement of CiviMail - and try and avoid people trying to use these Groups to 'send an email' from 'actions' and run in to problems due to the size of the Group
