login to civicrm, bypassing joomla admin
September 01, 2010, 09:14:42 pm
Hi
Sorry if this is dumb  ???.... newbie and could not find an answer to this.

just installed the latest version, now trying to get adoption from users, and want to make the login and front end as easy as possible.

Can I "build" a  URL which points to the civicrm home page, (including login) without having to login to jooma admin->components->civicrm?

like this:  http://drupal.demo.civicrm.org/

(except I use latest joomla)

thanks in advance!!

thanks

would help if you can be more clear on what u want to accomplish

just displaying a login box can be done in both CMS'es.

Hi
yes, let me try to make it clear:

today, I access civicrm by loging in to joomla admin and going to the civicrm component:

http://www.globalroots.org/administrator/index.php?option=com_civicrm

but if I send this  link to users: http://www.globalroots.org/administrator/index.php?option=com_civicrm

then the joomla login page pops-up, they would login, then go to component menu, pick civicrm to get into civicrm and administer contacts, send emails,....

I am worried they will likely get lost in the joomla administrator menu, and maybe create damage...

I would like to send a simple link to the civicrm users, so they can login directly in the civicrm component with a login box, so the only think they see is the civicrm component, without need to go around in menus.

these users are not computer literate, they would maintain contacts and run reports just within civicrm. Presenting them a joomla admin interface would confuse them.

I hope its more clear :)
thanks!
patrick

1. note that for the below functionality civicrm requires joomla access to the admin part of joomla

2. your question seems more a joomla question than a civi question. you might want to check on the joomla forums on how to redirect an admin (or a certain set of admins) to a specific page after login

Hello CiviCRM, New to the joint, but happy to be here/

Reading this older thread - http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php/topic,10069.0.html - it seems that this is a common topic.

I was hoping for the similar. An administrator login independent of Joomla CMS. Much like using Moodle, I can access the Moodle Administration area withouth having to go through Joomla.

If this open is not available, where can one request its addition?

Further, if there is an Joomla extension that is customized for this, can you please provide some further information.

Thank you for all your time and effort in this project. I will be donating

Tim

you can make a suggestion here:

http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php/board,18.0.html

however we do strongly encourage folks to help "scratch their own itch" and contribute code and/or sponsor a developer to help improve the project
