Deceased ... ?
November 11, 2007, 08:23:46 pm
I'm interested in how we can use the "Deceased" field (for its intended purpose).

I've convinced the users of the system of why it's important to keep deceased contacts "on file" in order not to lose related information (one of our organisational leaders died recently, and losing all his meetings and contacts would be a disaster, so this is an instructive example).

However ... in the advanced search screen, I can't see how I can search for "is not deceased". Is this implicit?

If so ... which searches is it implicit in?

Happy to roll (and share, of course) another piece of custom search trickery if this isn't already handled. Thx!

the deceased field is not implicit and is not part of the search query. You can probably reuse your saved search hack and do a smart query to search for all the deceased folks etc

That's what I've been doing, though I didn't have so much luck with this one. I tried to string in an
Code: [Select]
AND contact_a.id NOT IN ( select entity_id FROM civicrm_custom_value WHERE custom_data_id = 41 AND int_data = 1 )(sql from memory, i'm not on that machine now), but it didn't work as well as the last one.

I'll post it once I get it to work. Thanks for the clarification, Donald!
