My first post here!

CiviCRM looks like a top quality application. I'm still working to get my head around it on a local trial install with Joomla under XAMPP.
I have successfully imported contacts/users from Joomla. I have created a group and have added four of these contact to the group. This all looks  fine and behaves as expected in the Admin back-end.

When I log-in the the site front-end as one of these users, Under 'Your Group(s)' I see the message 'You are not currently subscribed to any Groups.'

Is 'subscribe' something different from 'Add contacts to group'? Am I missing a step'?

My initial objective is to enable group members to send a bulk email to all, or individual, members of a group that the belong to.

Any guidance would be appreciated.
