Backup data
November 12, 2007, 05:30:36 am
I've tried to use Backup Data and got the following error message:

"Internal Server Error, this is an error with your script, check your error log for more information"

Can any one help with what might cause this error and how to correct it?

Thanks

Dave Smith

From the error message: "check your error log for more information"

We'll need the more information to have an idea of whats going wrong and why. Please check your error logs and cut-n-paste the relevant error message. if you are not sure where the error logs are, please check with your hosting provider / system administrator

Thanks. I'll do that and come back with further information.

I haven't started tracking it down yet, but after seeing your post, I tried the same thing and get the same error:

Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@healthcareforallcolorado.com and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
Apache/1.3.37 Server at healthcareforallcolorado.com Port 80

For now, I'm just using the phpMyAdmin export to SQL.  The 120 sample records created a 1,637 KB export file.  If I double the records, should have estimate for database growth - there are also probably docs on this.

Somewhat unrelated, but interesting:
Doing a search for all contacts by not specifying criteria and then selecting "Export Contacts" creates a rather impressive export of many fields appearing to come from many tables.   Might also be a backup strategy.

Please check the contents of your error log. it will give u a more specific reason for the internal error (most likely out of memory)

using PMA to back yo your entire DB is probably a better strategy (since i suspect your web presence is more than just civicrm :)
