Register a transaction unchecked by default
September 06, 2010, 09:21:56 am
Hi,

When you register from the back-office a new membership, the option to register the financial transaction is off.

What was the logic behind that choice ? I fail to see when it's more logical than registering it by default.

Revisiting this per your question - and I would tend to agree. However, you'd probably want to set the checked / not-checked default dynamically after the user selects the membership type (since some memberships may be free, and also you would then display the transaction Amount with the correct value when you unhide that block).

Have you or others had feedback from users that the current behavior is confusing or problematic (i.e. they forget to check the box etc.)?

Good point, obviously if the membership is free, the registration doesn't make sense. This being said, probably already tested when you save that if you check register transaction and total is 0, it doesn't do anything (haven't tested, but I have face in the code ;)

Yeap, on one case, the membership is paid by bank transfer (CC charges are too high), and we have discrepancies between what they should have according to civicrm and what they do really (higher) ;(
