PriceEvent bug - please help
September 07, 2010, 03:04:24 pm
We have set up an event with a price set.  We have test it and test it.  It was working great however,  since we have gone live I am getting serveral people who are having problems.  Here is an email from one of them.

Hi,

Filled out registration, checked 1 for participants and also $40 journalist fee.
I hit Continue button and it erases the check for the fee and won't allow me to continue registering. Gives me a message that says I have to check which fee I fall under.

thanks,
diana

It has also come to my attention that when this is happening the user is checking the event fee box and the total fee box is not being populated.  However,  when they close the broswer and go back everything is working. .  the two people that I have talked to say they were using IE when this happened.

Here is the form

I have tested the form over and over and I can not make if fail.  Any Ideas? Anyone else having this issue? Am willing to give user name and password if needed to solve issue.

Please help we are live with this form and need resolved ASAP.

if your user base is fairly small , you can ask them to use firefox. For my school project, we went with this approach and it seemed to work quite well (and avoid a lot of issues also!)

Asking the membership to use firefox is not an option in my case.  Please any other suggestions

I don't have this particular issue, but I have suggestions for you.

To be able to see what your user sees: http://www.spoon.net
This is a 'virtual browser' set up that runs the browser of your choice as if you had installed it.
You probably won't get your users to use it - most corporate environments would disallow the plugin.
You yourself can use it to try out what your user is experiencing.

To maybe cure IE weirdness: http://www.charlescooke.me.uk/web/lab_notes/ie7_script.html
I use this, and it's helped me with my IE6 clients.
This isn't the software, it's a howto - but the links to the software are in here.
