Access Control
September 08, 2010, 07:06:13 am
If I as an admin would like to control who's allowed and how the CiviCRM is managed, how can I do that?

I know that I can make a group but how can I add permissions to that group?

I want a group that can manage the events and all about that but they should not be alloew access to other parts of the Civi in the backend.

Is it possible to specifi the permission to detailed?
Regards

Hello Rudy,

That shouldn't be too difficult if I Understand what you are looking for.

1. Go to Administer-->Users and Permissions-->Permissions-->Manage roles.
add a Role called Event Managers

2. Go to Administer-->Users and Permissions-->Permissions-->
Assign Users to Roles.
Add a Role Assignment for Event managers. Assign the role to your event manager group. check enabled and save.

3.Go to Administer-->Users and Permissions-->Permissions-->
Manage ACLs. Add an ACL. Description= Event Managers, Role = Event Managers, Operation= All, Type of Data = Events, Event= All. Enable and save.

This will give you a group that can manage your Events. Now Create an ACL group in Joomla for the contacts in this group and adjust their permissions to where this will be the only Back end access they will have.

Hope this helps,

Cheers,
Jason
