What's a time estimate to add admin-access to credit contributions to PCP pages?

As you probably know, once a donation is related to a PCP page, you can edit the: display_in_roll, nickname, personal_note from the admin side by editing the contribution.

But we cannot establish this relationship of donation -> PCP page through the admin.  This makes offline contributions (i.e. checks in the mail) credited to PCP pages impossible without manual MySQL manipulation.

Is this a bug or is this just unfinished functionality?

What is the cost/estimate to finish this functionality?

This has definitely come up in the past and would be a very useful addition. Time estimate is 20 hours.

One issue to think about here is what type of input field is needed for admin's to select the PCP. A simple drop-down with the PCP title is probably insufficient since they are more likely to be looking for PCP's by the PCP owner/creator name (IMO). My initial thought would be an auto-complete box / search filtered on contacts who have PCP pages and displaying the contact name + PCP title (to handle cases where one person has multiple PCP pages).

We should also allow admin's to link contribution directly to an online contribution page if needed - so offline contributions targeted for a "campaign" could show up on the contribution page widget etc. (this is a trivial change).

I'm currently working with a client and they use primarily the title of the PCP page (which in their case is generally a team name like "Walkers for Peace" etc...) when they talk about crediting offline cash/check donations to a PCP.  So I don't think your assumption about the owner/creator name being the desired search is necessarily true for all cases.

We should be able to use the "Personal Campaign Page" drop down like you see here:
If it's good enough for the "Find Contributions" search it's good enough for the edit Contributions page, IMO.
/civicrm/contribute/search&reset=1

That drop-down might not be ideal for everyone, but currently, the PCP functionality is all but crippled because of the lack of offline donations processing capability.

I've had to offer my MySQL skills to get their offline contributions credited to the right PCP.

Good point about the PCP select in Find Contributions. I'd be ok w/ starting that way and seeing how it works for folks (as you've said, better than what we have now and easier to implement).
