My users without the access deleted contacts Drupal permission are still seeing deleted contacts and they still show up for them in search results.

Ironically when I as uid1 is logged in and do a search, the deleted contacts do not appear. (Though I can access them by doing an advanced search for all deleted contacts).

A bug?

I've temporarily unchecked "access deleted contacts" on the public demo and things are working as expected for the "demo" "demo" login. You should see if you can recreate the behavior you're seeing on your site at : http://drupal.demo.civicrm.org/

Else a few other things:
- are you running the latest version of CiviCRM (3.2.3)?
- do you have some CiviCRM specific ACLs setup (which might be affecting behavior / triggering a bug)? This would be under CiviCRM > Administer > Manage  > Access Control

I find that I am having the same exact issue. I have a profile that searches on a smart group. The smart group is made up of the search results of two different groups with the option to search deleted contacts NOT checked. When an anonymous user uses the profile they see what is in deleted contacts also. When admin logs in and does a search they do NOT see what is in deleted contacts unless they do an advances search and specifically check of the option to search deleted contacts.

I do have an ACL that is as such:
Type of data: A group of contacts
Group: The created smart group that the profile searches
Operation: view
Role: everyone
Enabled

Any thoughts on what is happening here?

I have just found out that even if I disable all of my ACLs (I only have three) that the issue is still there so I would doubt that ACLs have anything to do with it.

Please verify that you can replicate this on public demo / latest version. (The simple case of profile tied to smart group pointing to 2 regular groups.... no ACLs). If so, please post a bug report w/ steps to replicate - and if possible investigate the cause and include a patch to fix it.

I created a profile on the demo site that you can reach with this link
http://drupal.demo.civicrm.org/civicrm/profile/profile?reset=1&gid=10

The profile works on the group 'Newsletter Subscribers'.

I then created two users, Todd Parks and Tony Parks and added them both to that group. I then deleted Tony Parks. I used the above link to get to the profile and did a seach on the last name 'Parks'. Both of the previous entries are showing up even though I deleted the Tony Parks contact. Is this to be expected?

I could not recreate on 3.4 beta, so did a bit more snooping and saw that it's a bug that's been fixed for 3.4:

Thanks for looking into this, I really appreciate it. Just means that I will need to empty the trash till 3.4 is released  :)

I do have another question. While it is on a different subject it can be found on the search results page using the profile that I created and linked to in my previous post. When you mouse over the person icon you get a popup bubble with contact information; this information includes mobile phone number and DOB. Is there anyway of disabling either specific information or if not, disabling the bubble itself? I would prefer that end users are not able to view that type of info.

For 3.3 (including on demo) that bubble will appear but will be empty if you're viewing the profile as anonymous user or user who doesn't have appropriate access permission for viewing contacts.

For 3.4, we improved things a bit so the bubble doesn't appear at all if user doesn't have view contact permissions.

Note that you do have the ability to customize what data is exposed in the bubble even to authorized users by changing the fields in the "Summary Overlay" profile (this is what controls the contents of that bubble).
