How do I import multiple values into a multi-select field?
September 08, 2010, 03:59:38 pm
I created a custom field with multiple checkboxes where multiple boxes can be checked simultaneously.  But I can't figure out how to import data into it.

The data I want to import has a bunch of columns with boolean values, where each column represents a checkbox. But in CiviCRM, all the checkboxes are in a single field. So I need to figure out a way to merge the columns of my dataset into a single column, then import them.

Can I import multiple values into a single field? Does CiviCRM support a separator character like '|' ?

Thanks,
James

Once dealt with those types in a non-tech with something along lines

- in your columns find=1 replace with eg testimonial

- repeat for all columns

- concatenate with commas

- remove all extra commas and 0

Obviously there would be a better approach to make the single field - but that did it for me without spending more time searching for a clever solution
