Credit Card Contribution Credited to Wrong person

I am having an issue where a contribution made via an online CC payment is being credited to the wrong account. Why?

I assume that if a person enters his/her email, that the contribution system will use that email to match the contribution to an existing account.

In this case, the person making the contribution has an account/contact with email recorded, but the contribution is being credited to another.

What gives?  Where should I look to see what is going wrong?

What should happen if the person making the donation has no contact account?

not sure why your install is having those issues.

Can u try to do the same on demo and see what happens

Check that the email address is correct or there are not more than one for that person that may not belong to them. I just had this happen to me. Now, where is the 'move contribution to another contact' button?
