We are a membership organization, we have created a profile with several custom data fields, some of these are files that should be submitted and attached to the new member profile.

Everything seems fine, we still need to do some fine-tuning. However there are two problems with the custom fields for files: the files attached in the form are not actually uploaded anywhere and the second issue is that the compulsory file data fields are not reported as errors if they remain empty when the form is submitted.

My question is: where are the files from the custom data fields uploaded by default, can this be changed and how, what level of permission is necessary for the file upload to work correctly?
Also, if you have any advice for the second issue with the compulsory file fields not being reported as empty, I would appreciate very much any input on how to get this to work correctly.
