How to initialize CiviCRM database in multi-site?
September 11, 2010, 02:07:57 pm
Friends, We are users of Drupal/CiviCRM, so not profoundly noobish.  This question, however, is regarding our first attempt at a multisite setup.  Our confidence has been shaken...! ;)

Environment is an existing site at http://oursite.com/one, which works great.  In an effort to add a second site, we've meticulously created the sites/oursite.com/one and oursite.com.two directory structures and edited the respective config files for each system.

We envision somethig pretty easy: Want to share the Drupal and CiviCRM codebases, and have separate databases for Drupal and CiviCRM for each site.  We may even have gotten the Rewrite Module settings correct!  Who really knows, after all?

After creating blank empty databases for site 'two', we are able to connect to, and initialize, the Drupal database.  However, after activating the CiviCRM module, we are presented with:

Quote
Sorry. A non-recoverable error has occurred.
DB Error: no such table

Which makes a certain amount of sense; there are no tables in that database.  How does one populate a fresh database for the first time, in such a scenario?

SORRY: Answered my own question - Didn't know we could access sites/all/modules/.../install.php from a subsite... Once there, the database initialization proceeded as per the first site.  Great Stuff!!  Thanks, crew, for a very nice product.
