Customise "Activity Status" list and set default per activity?

Hi

I can't find how to add custom statuses to Activities. The Floss Manuals manual at
http://en.flossmanuals.net/CiviCRM/HandlingContacts
says:

Activities usually have their status set to Completed or Scheduled, however you may add other types of activity status as appropriate for your organisation.

But I've googled (using new CiviCRM custom google search) and I've scoured the admin menus but not been able to find it.

Does the feature exist (or is the manual wrong)?

I realise that some built-in functions set the default status for new activities to Completed. Is there a way to make it do this for custom activity types?

You wanna look under Administer → Option Lists → Activity Types :

Hey, thanks for prompt reply, however, that's where I started.

From that page I can add new activity types, but I cannot edit or set the default activity Status values (status values are the Completed/Scheduled/Cancelled/Not Required/Left message... ).

for now, u can use a url like:

http://drupal.demo.civicrm.org/civicrm/admin/options/activity_type?group=activity_status&reset=1

(note the change in group)

i'm not sure why we dont expose activity status as an editable field. i'll ask around to see if there is a reason

Thank you, I'll have a play with that and get back to you.

Incidedntally, I tried the link you gave, which worked, but then when I clicked Edit on one of the preset options I got an error about no option groups, and blank fields. Perhaps this is because I clicked Edit on a pre-set internal one, though.

Thanks for the posted link Lobo.

This one is really useful as well.
http://vpfa-dev/fa-drupal7/president/civicrm/admin/options/activity_status?group=activity_status&reset=1

It allows an admin to edit all option groups such as activity status types.

In 4.1 we expose editing of all option groups:

I would also like to add more activity statuses. Where in 4.1 can we do this?

You might want to look under Administer → Customize Data and Screens → Activity Types

there is a civi screen that shows you all the Option Groups. click on Administer -> Administration Console

on that screen, in the System Settings section you have Option Groups. click on that and you get a list of all the option groups in civi. Activity Status is one of them. Click Options for Activity Status and you will see the list of options and have the ability to add new ones.
