How can you restrict "Check for Matching Contacts" when editing a contact

Can you edit the ability to view and use the "check for matching contacts" function by role? If so, how? We have a very basic security setup.

I think you'd need to customize the form template (templates/CRM/Contact/Form/Contact.tpl) to do this. Might help if you explain the rationale behind this requirement - given that even if the "Check for ... " button isn't present - the user will still get alerted if the contact they are trying to add matches other contacts based on your default Fuzzy duplicate matching rule.
