Well; this isn't a CiviCRM feature question so I hope I'm safe about posting this here. You can believe I did a search on the forum already.

Some of the Ubuntu and Linux forums I'm a part of have the ability to add friend lists or contacts within the bulletin board / forum system. I find this very useful when trying to find people that have answered questions that I have asked in the past (there are other uses as well).

Any thought on getting this added?

Can you make a quick research on what mods have been used to provide this functionality on forums you mention? If there is specific extension for SMF to do that, we can take a look and evaluate adding it to our forum.

I'll do a little digging in a few minutes. I don't have an exstension names for you yet, but in short ubuntuforums.org and linuxquestions.org both have a section called " Contacts & Friends".

I'm not really familiar with SMF but their appears to be something called "Buddy List"

Any update on this? I'd still like to see a way of adding contacts more easily than the way I'm currently doing it. ... Right now I simply created a special email box within CiviCRM called "friends" :-)

Just thought I'd send out a final closing remark on this post. I didn't get a lot of feed back on this one but I logged back on about a month ago and could see there was now a way to add friends and the over all look of the forum was more attractive.

So, thank you. I don't how much affect my previous post had. After all I know I'm just one guy and my request didn't seem to attract a lot of attention from the wider community :-)
