imported info only appearing on exported csv

We are having an issue with a custom contribution field. We have created a field called "Fund" which we use to indicate where in our organization a gift is being designated. When we import our gifts via csv file, we use this field in the mapping. It does not seem to show up when we "View' the contribution, but if we export the contribution back to a csv file, that field is populated. Has anyone ever encountered this and if so, is there a fix?

do u have any other custom fields in that group? if so do they exhibit the same behavior?

what civicrm version? do u remember how this field was created? is it a new field?

not heard of this before, so its a bit strange :( can you (or the developer/admin) empty the table 'civicrm_cache' and see if this fixes the issue

would also be great, if the SC canada group posts a case study on how/where/why it uses CiviCRM on our wiki or forum area:

Thanks for the reply.

We have many custom fields in that group,  but that one is the only one in that group that we use in the import field mapping so I don't know if it is unique to that field. It seems to only be happening with imported contributions, not with ones that have been manually entered.
We are using version 3.1.5. The field was created by our developer before any of our data was uploaded. The initally imported contribution records are fine, with this field displaying and exporting normally, so it maybe a glitch in the version we are using.
How to empty a table is a bit beyond me, but I could make a request of our developer.

Thanks for the suggestion to add a case study. We have been using Civi since March, having migrated from Raiser's Edge. It may take a little while for us to get a study written up as we still find ourselves discovering little issues like this one which are time consuming to solve.

Seems like the data might be stored in a different format than what the current version is expecting etc

might be helpful if you developer can check the contents of the DB and compare the values of data that displays fine, vs data that does not
