Editing contacts from the front-end
September 21, 2010, 02:53:30 pm
My brain must be smaller than I initially thought, because I can't work this out.  Have just installed 3.2.3 on Joomla 1.5.20. Here are my requirements - all very simple I think:
1) This is for a company Intranet, they want to track their contacts, which come in 3 flavours (Individual, and 2 x Organisation types).  I have setup these as profiles called: Individual, Indigenous Organisation, Peak Body.
2) I have setup front end menu links for searching on these categories, and creating new records in these categories (all working fine).
3) Basically everyone in the company that I am building the Intranet for should be able to add / edit / delete contacts.

So my question is, how do staff in the client organisation (they all have logins to Joomla) edit / delete (add is working fine) all the records in the database from the front-end of the site?

Many thanks for any pointers.

if you mean add/edit/delete contacts via the "new individual" form etc, u'll need to do that from the backend in joomla. this is due to the lack of permission integration with joomla 1.5

if important to your org, consider contributing code to integrate this with joomla acl's in 1.6

Oh well, at least I'm not totally stupid - I now know why I couldn't work it out!  Thanks for letting me know this so I don't waste any more time trying to get this working.
