Can't delete sample memberships

Version:  CiviCRM 3.2.3

Post installation, trying to delete sample data.  

I deleted all contacts except "Inner City Arts", which fails to delete.  The error message is:

The contact might be the Membership Organization of a Membership Type. You will need to edit the Membership Type and change the Membership Organization before you can delete this contact.

So I tried to edit the membership organization, but there are no other organizations, so I cannot change the org.  I tried to delete membership type, and got the message:

1. There are some contacts who have this membership type assigned to them. Search for contacts with this membership type on the CiviMember >> Find Members page. If you delete all memberships of this type, you will then be able to delete the membership type on this page. To delete the membership type, all memberships of this type should be deleted.

But the Find Members page fails to find any members (not surprising since there are none).  

I'm probably missing something obvious, but can someone enlighten me as to what I'm missing?

-- With CiviCRM 3.2.x , deleted contacts are marked as trash and  not permanently deleted from database until you select "Permanently Delete" from action tasks. And so in your case the contacts are not permanently deleted.
You can go to advance search and <your_site>civicrm/contact/search/advanced&reset=1 and search for the contacts in trash ( by checking the checkbox , 'Search in Trash'). And delete them permanently ( which will also delete all the memberships ). Only after that you will be able to delete all the membership types.

Thanks so much!  I suspected something of the sort, but not consciously enough to find it.  Kudos to you for your kind help!   :D
