Calculate sales tax based on provice of new member

Can CiviCRM be set up to add sales tax to the membership based on the Canadian province in which the new member resides? So Ontario HST, New Brunswick different  HST amount and so on.

I would also like to know this. In Europe VAT is added based on the country. This is a problem when using CiviCRM which is a very fine application.

I know this thread is old but in case you're still looking for a solution, please join the working drupal group at /node/182444 (sorry it wont let me post links)
There's a working if somewhat ugly solution for a single tax rate.  Hopefully in the coming weeks we can sort out a solution for multiple location based tax rates that don't require changes in any core files.
