New events calendar / ical setup method for Drupal Feeds module?
September 29, 2010, 05:58:48 pm
Hi guys,

It's now nearly a year since the instructions for building a Drupal calendar using the CiviEvent feed (http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC32/Using+Drupal+Calendar+with+CiviEvent) were last editted, and in that time, several of the modules quoted have been abandoned, changed and/or eaten by the 'Feeds' module.

I've been trying to get a basic calendar up using the 'Feeds' module with 'iCal parser' - but it doesn't work. Whether I feed it my own ical feed or any of the feeds from the Drupal demo site, and no matter how I map 'title', it gives the error "Could not retrieve title from feed."

If I stick in a dummy title to the import form, it just creates one node, regardless of the number of events in the feed, with (perfectly mapped) default settings only. This is with parser set to "iCal dateapi parser" (strangely this one has no options in 'settings', but everything I can see that would need to be set up has options elsewhere).

Has anyone got a CiviEvents calendar to work using Feeds? Can anyone get it to work? I can't see any reason why it shouldn't work - but it doesn't. It seems to be simply failing to read the

I really don't want to have to dredge up use and fix a bunch of discontinued modules to get this working!

I've been trying to get this working as well but have been unable to.

Like you I get the same error. :(

I don't want to go back to a module that isn't being supported but I need this to work.

Anyone have any ideas?

****UPDATE******

I just worked on this a little more and got it working. You have to do the import before you do any mappings.

Setup everythign except the mappings. Set the Node Processor to the content type you want to use and then do the import. THEN  go back and do the mappings. This worked for me. Although CiviEvent doesn't include all the fields I'd like within the Feed :(

Well it's partially working.

The date/time isn't being interpreted correctly, at least the time isn't.

I had the Time zone set in Drupal under Date and Time settings once i removed that setting the time is being interpreted correctly.

Has anyone gotten Feeds + iCal Parser to work? I've tried importing without mapping as suggested, but not even that it working… Help please?
