Author Topic: Print Contribution Receipts - PDF Receipts (Read 1474 times)

Currently all our membership sign ups/ renewals are off-line. When we sign up or renew members we click on the ' Send Confirmation and Receipt' option for members with an email address. I have modified the System Workflow message template 'Memberships - Signup and Renewal Receipts (off-line)' and added two tokens {contact.contact_type} {contact.addressee}. This personalises the email receipt with these tokens

We have some members who do not have email addresses and therefore we cannot send email Confirmation and Receipt message.

So we thought we could use the Find Contributions for receipts not sent. The search works fine. So I tried modifying the template 'Contributions - Receipt (off-line)' and inserted the same tokens as I did for the other template. However these tokens do not show up in PDF contribution report. Am I modifying the right template? Or is it another template I should be using?

If we can't personalise the receipt it is difficult to see who the receipt is for as it only has Membership type, amount and dates, no information about who it is for. See attached receipt.

Any help to point me in the right direction would be really useful.

Hi,

Unless it has been changed that code uses the on-line receipt template because when I utilises the same code as used for the receipts sent out when payment is made by credit card

So, you can edit it & see the effect of your edits but not add tokens like {contact.display_name}

?

Thank you for taking time to help me on this, very much appreciated
I add the tokens in the template, but they are not reflected in the output.
I have added tokens in other system templates such as 'Memberships - Signup and Renewal Receipts (off-line)' template and the tokens I have inserted have been reflected in the reports produced.

So my question is am I modifying the right template?

Just to re-iterate;
1. I search for contributions, I find the ones I want
2. I then select the option ' Print or email contribution receipt' hit the GO button
3.I then click PDF receipts check box and hit Process receipts button
4. The pdf is produced
So my question is ' Which message template does this process use?

AH - I just clicked- it will use the html on-line version of the template but it might use contribution or membership - depending if a membership is present (I presume it may also use event if that is the nature of the contribution).

Don't worry about adding tokens & testing them until you have established that you can insert/ edit text

You were right!
If I select Contribution Type ' Membership Fee' it uses the template 'Memberships - Receipt (on-line)'
I changed the standard text in both the Plain Text and HTML from ' Print this receipt for your records' with my own text ' Marylebone Membership Contribution Receipt(on-line)- {contact.addressee} {contact.contact_type}' Everything worked fine. See attched PDF
