pledge start date and subsequent due dates
October 05, 2010, 10:01:18 am
hey folks,

i am working on pledges for the first time. the group i am working with signs people up for a pledge. if it is yearly, then the month and day of the first pledge is when subsequent payments are due in the following years.

in civipledge, the due date is the beginning of the year. so, if someone makes a yearly pledge on october 10, the following payment is due january 1.

am i missing something? can i set it so that the payments are all due on october 10?

gracias,

josue :
If a pledge has been made yearly the next pledge payment date is scheduled in the first month of the next year (Jan), you could however specify the date on which the payments are due for the month of Jan.
To further change the pledge payment date you might want to click "Edit Scheduled Payment" link (next to the status) and change the pledge payment scheduled date.

Hope that helps!

thanks for the reply yashodha.

i guess my question is why is the next payment date scheduled for the first month of the next year? it seems more logical that the next payment be scheduled one year from the date that the pledge was made.

is there a logic that i just don't understand? is this a standard way for pledges to work?

i think that the yearly pledge should work like the rolling membership does: the year starts on the date that the pledge is made.

since this is an option in memberships, is there code that can be reused to make this change? is this a reasonable request?

This seems to be an over-sight in earlier versions and has been fixed under http://issues.civicrm.org/jira/browse/CRM-7120 for 3.3 beta 3

Hope that helps!
