Hi

bit new at this.. when I send a bulk mailing can I select my members as groups  ie "Life Members"  I can't see a way to do this unless I create a smart group based on the membership categories.  Doing it this way seems complicated?

Hi Robyn

CiviMail is designed to work based on Groups. So yes a Smart Group built from your Membership characteristics would be a normal approach. That way the 'group' is always available for you to use, the contacts in that group will vary depending on who 'qualifies' at the time of sending. And people can 'unsub' from that particular group without opting out of all civimails from you.
