Event Registration and Membership on the same form?
October 12, 2010, 08:34:43 pm
Is it possible to combine event registration and civimember membership in the same form?
A client is asking me to include an 'event registration + membership' option in a CiviEvent page. In effect, they want to grow their CiviMember community by asking people who are registering for an upcoming even to also become members, without them having to fill out a separate membership form.
In other words, they want people to be able to register for an event and become a member at the same time.

Is this possible?
Thanks a lot

Not currently - it may have come up before but guess you didn't find it on your search. I suspect this would be a significant task.

Have you tryed using CiviCRM profile to do this? Thats the nearest thing i can think of to get all the information on the page.

Could you not give two event fee options (pay for event or pay for event and membership) and then use a hook to identify memberhip payers and then use  one of the membership APIs http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC32/Membership+APIs to create a membership. Obviously you can collect whatever info you want via the profiles that you require for event signup anyway.

Not that good on hooks and apis myself, but why wouldn't it work?

Thanks for the replies, that's a clever approach edp. Unfortunately I don't think I have all the skills to do it myself. Maybe if I find the time I'll try to dabble in it, I'll be sure to post the results if I get anywhere.

thanks again.
