Drupal 6/CiviCRM 3.2.3 Page Not Found after installation
October 18, 2010, 04:50:41 pm
Hello all,

I am a relatively new user to both Drual and CiviCRM - I am testing out CiviCRM to see if it matches the needs of my employer. That said, I followed the steps in the documentation to download and install CiviCRM into a fresh install of Drupal 6.19. I had to do some "fenagling" by moving several files around after installing to get CiviCRM to show up at all without any error messages. However, Whenever I click on any link whatsoever while on the CiviCRM dashboard, it takes me to a "Page Not Found" Screen. I am using Firefox as my browser of choice, and Firebug and my debugger of choice. At present I am receiving no errors.

Also, while on the CiviCRM dashboard, the dashboard itself never actually loads - it stays on a perpetual loading cycle.

Here is the file structure I have ended up with in order to get onto the CiviCRM Dashboard screen.

sites -> all -> modules -> drupal-contrib -> civicrm // this contains all main subfolders and files
sites -> sites -> default -> files -> civicrm -> // contains the 4 folders custom, persist, templates-c, and upload. templates-c has numerous subfolders and php files
sites -> sites -> default -> civicrm.settings.php

also, there is a duplicate civicrm.settings.php file in sites -> default

I have previously been able to get drupal to function, adding pages and other modules such to test functionality. I cleaned everything out and installed civicrm as the only module presently included in the drupal install.

I have tried moving the main civicrm folder into the drupal root folder as someone suggested elsewhere, which did not work for me. I also tried moving it into sites -> all -> modules, which still did not work.

Given that i am not completely familiar with Drupal, and have little to no knowledge of civicrm, aside from having tested it on the demo site they provide, I am at a loss at this point, and would appreciate any assistance anyone may be able to provide. If I am able to solve this on my own, or with anyone else's help, I will be glad to post my solution so others may be able to get past this issue if it occurs for them.

I hope I havent been too long winded, but I'd rather give too much information than not enough :) I hope I havent missed any important details.

Thank you for taking the time to read my book :) Have a great day!

well, i feel a bit dumb for this one - should have known better.

it was a filepath issue. in another post elsewhere it had mentioned saving drupal contributed modules in a subfolder seperate from modules you create yourself, so i did so. This worked with all of the other modules ive tried, without needing to modify any code to take into account that the module was in a subdirectory. when i cleaned everything out, did a full fresh install of drupal and civicrm, however, this time i tried just saving it directly into the sites -> all -> modules directory and it worked.

so, lesson learned (again :/ lol ) dont put things into places they dont belong.

Have a good day!
