What is the limit of the validity of PHPSESSID in REST

Question from one of my customers: they use the REST interface to retrieve data. How long is the PHPSESSID valid after the login? Is there a time limit or something in CiviCRM that checks?

the login and session is managed by drupal (which i think in turn relies on the settings from php.ini)
