vps memory complaints
October 26, 2010, 09:12:39 am
I'm running civicrm 3.2 on an eapps vps.  It's only for testing there's no one but me.  I've been getting warning emails about hitting memory thresholds.  My current vps configuration has a 160MB limit.

Is modifying the .htaccess with a
  php_value memory_limit ???M
the best solution, where ??? is something like 128 ??

appreciate any advice, thanks - Duane

I use eApps quite a bit.
You're at the base level, which in my experience is doable for Civi, but more resources are generally necessary to get it running smoothly. At that level, I wouldn't increase memory_limit beyond 96M.
as for the warning messages they send -- i don't worry about those too much unless you're noticing a clear performance hit on the site. I tend to get them once I setup cronjobs as they can suck resources depending on the volume of the db. but they run at night, during traffic downtime. if you're getting the warnings during peak traffic times, then you may need to bump to the next level.
