Match to Contact for Contribution Import
October 28, 2010, 04:11:35 am
I'm having trouble matching records while importing new contributions.
I've been able to duplicate the problem on the demo site. The steps taken so far are:

1. Create a Custom Data profile field for an Individual's contact record (ie. Import ID)
2. Create a Strict DeDupe rule to check against the import ID and make this default.
3. Pass step 1 of Import Contributions and get a list of matching fields...

In the drop-down lists, the 'Import ID' doesn't appear as an option. Instead just the '(match to contact)' bit does.

4. Having selected just the '(match to contact)', proceed to import.
5. The import fails saying 'No matching contact found for....'

Is this a bug? I am able to import using the standard ExternalID or ContactID fields without a problem. But in my case, these fields are already used so I would like to be able to match using another unique ID.

Has anyone else had this problem? I'm running version 3.1.6 on Joomla.
Any help would be appreciated.

Does anyone have any ideas?
To put it the question in a nutshell and not waffle:

Is it possible to match contributions to contacts on one (custom/openid) ID, except by Name, External Identifier?

I thought it was to do with the default deduping rule, so is this a bug, or have a I misunderstood?

From your experiments, it seems like it is a bug in 3.1.6

can you test and see if this is fixed in 3.2.x (joomla.demo.civicrm.org) and also test on our drupal sandbox server (sandbox.civicrm.org)

if it does not work, please file an issue. Please consider investigating the code and file a patch (we can help u get started on IRC)

Thanks, Lobo. I did use the joomla demo and the behaviour's the same. So I'll give the sandbox a try and let you know.

Hi,

I tested on both the Joomla and Drupal sandbox sites - and all works fine.
I upgraded my Civi to 3.2.4 and the matching now works.

Thanks for your help.
