After migration, online event registration returns a blank page

I just moved my site to a new server. I followed the migration guide but couldn't get around following the troubleshooting suggestion to set the Config_Backend column to NULL. I don't know if this is the problem or not, but now all the event links do not work. They just return a blank page.

I disabled the online reg option for an event and magically the information page loads perfectly, but when switched back on, it is back to loading the blank page again. Any help with this is very much appreciated.

oh yeah, I also created a new event with online registration, and it worked fine. However, when I copied one of the existing events, it did the blank page thing again.
