Membership tab Dashboard report problem for Annual membership
October 28, 2010, 01:59:07 pm
Our yearlong memberships start on Oct 1.  The Dashboard report shows previous months (September) new/renewal memberships, current one (October) and a totals column.  Problem is that though 30+ members have renewed in September, for some reason the report isn't showing any results there - 0 is listed for each membership type.  Only renewals that happened in october are showing.

Anyone else run into this problem?  Is it a bug in report or am I missing something?

I wasn't able to attach a screengrab of report since forum upload folder is full.

Thanks in advance for any help here...

Also try again to attach screenshot..

Thanks

Membership report is attached.  I will try to set up an annual membership type at drupal.demo.civicrm.org now.

Well, a quick test on the 3.2 Demo Site indicates that it seems to perform correctly.  For an annual membership starting Nov 1, that October renewals are counted in Nov tallies, which would work for us (to test I just changed the start date on a few memberships, and switched membership type to the Annual one; I presume that's the sole info the Membership Dashboard report works on.  I didn't test a change on credit card/financial transaction dates).  We're using 3.2 as well so not sure why our setup would behave differently.

Hah! And now that we're into november in our system, its not showing ANY registrants for November, even though there are over a dozen.  See attached screenshot.

This case begs question: If one registers for an annual membership AFTER its fixed start date, does one get counted in the current monthly tally, or is one added to 1st month of annual membership, or does one simply not appear at all in this report except in the final "Current" column?

I think it will appear as "Current", check your Membership Status rules.

Well, I've done up a similar report to the existing dashboard one for those who come across this thread; The report tallies numbers (& dues) for all new/current/grace members, so the months it covers grows to expand to the entire year for annual memberships.  Not sure why Dashboard report fails us but I'm not going to dig into it further.  Our memberships seem configured just fine.

Its all done via a php template, using drupal API to query civicrm database.  If anyone is wanting similar, I can send the query & dozen php lines.
